The Tyranny of Korax II

Session 004 - Into the Guardian of Steel

Coming out of the Guardian of Fire, the party found yet another door open in the Seven Portals, and a friend waiting for them in the courtyard.

The apprentice of the Crimson Man, still hooded, and her summoned companion dutifully perched atop her shoulders, welcomed the reluctant heroes. Pointing to a set of monoliths that obscured a small pond, the summoned creature explained that the pond was the key to leaving the Seven Portals for good. And the only way to get to it was through the Guardian of Steel.

Their task before them, the party rushed into the Guardian of Steel, only to be greeted by walls of patchwork metal inside of a gigantic tower. Outside lay multiple other towers, with only the embrace of the black void in between each, and a scattering of floating steel shavings.

Presented with an altar bearing arcane scripts, Suparo eventually surmised that the altar somehow reacted to shock magic. Using his Shocking Grasp, he touched the altar and, to everyone’s surprise, created a sort of electric loop between himself and the altar, and used his raw will to construct a solid, metal bridge out of the shavings.

After the impressive display, everyone crossed the bridge (some walking, some crawling) to the next tower. What awaited them was a small clan of kobolds, eager to use their piston traps to crush our adventurers. Suparo and Adrian, using their ingenuity (and abusing the stupidity of kobolds), managed to trick the small dragonkin and slay them (with the help of Arthur and Ophelia, of course).

Another altar and another bridge later, the heroes found themselves facing immobile statues with deadly darts of magic. Arthur took quite the beating from these mechanical monsters, but survived and managed to help the rest of the party put the foes to rout. In this tower, there was a room of bountiful treasure, and spoils were passed around with perhaps the most glee that had been mustered since the party began their little stint in the Winnowing Hall.

Afterwards, another encounter with kobolds ended with two of them being slain simply by falling, and another put to rest by the party. Finally, a centaur awaited the group with murderous intent, but was slain handily by the party. Activating the mechanism the centaur was guarding, the group now makes their way back to the Seven Portals to see what awaits them behind the monoliths…

Session 002, 003 - Into the Seven Portals
Through the Elemental Planes of Fire and Ice

Left to their own devices in the Seven Portals, our ragtag team of adventurers eventually managed to open one of the seven doors in the Seven Portals. Behind this door lay a portal, and through the portal was the Guardian of Ice, a stern palace situated in the Elemental Plane of Ice.

Immediately, the party met Ophelia, a halfling that seemed to have intimate knowledge of the Guardian of Ice and its undead inhabitants. Leading them through the halls and helping them defeat the dread protectors of the sanctum, she eventually delivered them into the hands of Bane, Keeper of the Guardian of Ice.

Bane did not immediately challenge our unlikely group to combat; instead, he extended to them an offer of membership in Korax’s ranks. Speaking personally to each of his temporary charges, he bade all of them to stay the night in his palace and give an answer in the morning.

The answer was, from everyone, a resounding “no.” Infuriated, Bane dropped his polite facade and attacked the party, but was ultimately defeated at the hands of the group and his traitorous former slave, Ophelia.

After escaping the now-unstable Guardian of Ice, the crew managed to find their way to the Guardian of Fire, the second of the Elemental Guardianships linked to the Seven Portals.

Coming across a cadre of goblins, the party attempted to interact with them in various, sometimes violent ways. To make a long and hilarious story short, the goblins were eventually slain and crossbows broken.

Ending their sojourn into the Elemental Plane of Fire, the heroes confronted the evil Forgemaster of the Guardian of Fire. Much less of a challenge than the mighty Bane, the Forgemaster fell in combat and left behind some excellent spoils for our battle-worn party.

Traveling back to the Seven Portals, who knows what they will find there? Another Elemental Guardianship? Perhaps an even greater foe? Only time will tell…

Session 001 - The Escape
From the frying pan...

Each of our unlucky adventurers began the session in chains, holding in common one thing: Korax wanted them dead. For some, it was for blasphemy. For others, it was mere lawbreaking. Whatever the reason, these three captured souls were soon to shuffle off Chronos’ mortal coil.

Not ones to take an execution lying down, our three prisoners staged a daring escape. Using his ingenuity, Adrian Gareth picked the lock to the cell and helped Suparo and Arthur set up an ambush for their guards.

After a brief tussle with a pair of hobgoblins and a small chat with a gang of gobs, the three set their sights on the belltower in hopes it would lead them out of the chapel-turned-gallows. Making it to the top, they found the constable responsible for their sentences. Wasting no time, Adrian quickly identified the constable’s weak point and sliced it open for massive damage, instantly slaying the foul warden in one clean stroke.

Afterwards, they found a portal to a hub known as the Seven Portals. Here they faced a Man in Crimson, taunting them at every whim. What will happen to our adventurers now?

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
